“Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is slow down, listen inward, and make space for ourselves.”
—Monique Shergill, MFT Intern
Monique offers both in-person and virtual therapy in Washington.
Monique Shergill is a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern at Seattle Pacific University, dedicated to fostering healing through culturally attuned, client-centered care. With a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Washington and a strong foundation in education and community engagement, Monique brings a deep understanding of how family systems, culture, and intergenerational narratives shape emotional well-being.
Her clinical approach is informed by her lived experience and advocacy within Punjabi/Sikh and South Asian communities, where she has led initiatives to create culturally relevant mental health content and dialogue. Monique has interned with the Sri Guru Amar Das Ji Sikh Society, collaborating with clinicians to support therapy programming within the Gurdwara community, and served as a Registered Behavior Technician at Crissey Behavioral Consulting, providing individualized behavioral support in home and school settings.
With a relational and trauma-informed therapeutic style that is grounded in cultural humility, Monique integrates systems thinking, emotional processing, and behavioral strategies to support clients navigating grief, identity, and inherited trauma. Her previous volunteer work with Providence Hospice of Seattle has further deepened her sensitivity to transitions and the power of presence in therapeutic relationships.
Monique is passionate about helping clients reimagine their stories and build meaningful connections. She is excited to continue growing as a therapist within a collaborative and inclusive clinical environment.
In her free time, Monique enjoys spending time in nature, exploring new places, and connecting with her community.
Monique earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Washington and is currently studying for her MS in Marriage and Family Therapy at Seattle Pacific University. She is completing her clinical training under the supervision of Lara Symonds, LMFT, DCEP at OptimalLife Wellness Center.
